What’s a better excuse to wear sequins than the start of the holiday season!? I feel like a Golden Girl –  I am so happy to sparkle like this. I think it’s hard to not look moderately glamorous with a full midi skirt and a little sparkle. And how chic is this little red Chanel dupe!? 25 bucks y’all! I am also really enjoying this half-up topknot! Try it out for Christmas parties. Cheers!

Mother’s Day Gift Guide – All Under $100!

Mother's Day Gift Guide - Under $100

Mark your calendars! Mother’s Day is coming up on May 11, 2014. Taking mom out to brunch or dinner is always a nice gesture, but I love to get a nice gift for her as well. Moms do so much, even for us adults. It’s really nice that we get to celebrate her with nice meals and goodies! I don’t want to brag or anything, but I am kind of an awesome gift giver (well, when I like the person). These 6 suggestions will be sure to make any mommy happy! Unless your mom is the natural, outdoorsy type – in that case maybe be a gift card to REI? My mom is a girly gal, so I can’t really help you there.

1. Naked 3 Palette by Urban Decay, $52 – I have already purchased this for my mom for Christmas and she loves it! All of the Naked palettes are worth the hype, but I especially like this one for an occasion like Mother’s Day because it is so romantic and ladylike with the pink hues. This assortment of creamy shadows will compliment any woman’s skin tone. I’d say Urban Decay has the lady crowd pleasin’ down!

2. Too Faced “Better Than Sex” Mascara, $23– I know what you are thinking – RAUNCHY title. Too Faced just loves shocking us with their branding – we get it. Hopefully your mom has a sense of humor and this will tickle her pink with giggles – bonus gift! I have to say, this mascara is pretty fantastic. If you don’t like clumpy mascara, or you have a tendency to be picky with full texture in a mascara, stick to Lancome Difinicils. If you like some volume and a lil’ Kardashian on your lashes, you will be quite pleased. Your mom I mean! Who’s shopping for who now? #shopaholic

3. Banana Republic Starlet Necklace, $35 – Give mom a little icing! If you can’t afford diamonds, this necklace is a pretty great alternative. Statement necklaces are huge again this spring, and this necklace sure makes a statement. Again, I love the pink color for Mother’s Day and this necklace just happens to be on sale so act now! Buy, buy, buy!

4. Jo Malone’s Cologne in Peony and Blush Suede, $60 for 30 ml – Jo Malone fragrances smell like Princess Di – I swear. If you have yet to sniff one, go to your nearest department store and sniff, sniff, sniff. This fragrance is one of their most popular and you will see why. With notes of red apple, peony, and suede, the oils and fresh aromas sink into your skin and become your own musk. I think all of the Jo Malone’s colognes are perfect, but my mom especially likes peonies, so party with the peonies!

5. Banana Republic Annie Scarf in Wild Orchid, $44 – This pop of color will brighten anyone’s day. Scarves are a pretty easy gift, one size fits all, and they really jazz up a plain ensemble. This scarf also comes in a “blood orange and “bright citrus” – just in case your mom’s not a PINK gal.

6. Nars Blush in “Orgasm,” $33 – Yes, another raunchy name, but I think we are over this one. This blush is lovely and peachy and it flatters most skin tones. This blush will give your mom a lovely glow and make her feel special. Nars blushes are a tad pricey, but the product is beautiful, pigmented, and easily blended. No wonder “Orgasm” is a universal best seller!

Wishful Wanting List

Crosley Radio Cruiser Turntable Turquoise – I have an old record player, but it is finally broken and it was not portable. I like the idea of being able to take my player in tow to the beach! I wanna have a beach blanket bingo! This record player will do perfectly for a faux vintage lifestyle.

The Cambridge Satchel” – These satchels are iconic. They are to bags what the moleskin is to notebooks. I just want to fill this baby with leather bound journals and calling cards. This mint color is on trend and will be lovely for centuries.

Take a Dipper Necklace” – I love the little dipper! It’s the constellation that is always easy for me to find. I am a huge fan of dainty pendants. I’d like to rep the Lil’ D on my neck.

In Bonjour Dreams Pillowcase Set– French writing is always fun and chic. I do parle the french, so I like to keep frenchie things around me. These pillows have a great typography charm and they would go with any bed spread set.

Living Myth Perfect Jewelry Holder” – This ‘jackelope’ creature is very curious to me. I swear they are mythical, but Si Robertson from Duck Dynasty suggests otherwise. I have been loving using little dishes as homes for my jewelry. This one is both pretty and fun – it twill look nice on my dressing table.

Charlotte OLympia Tumbled Suede Sleeping Kitty Loafers – These cat flats are PRI-CAY, but a girl can dream. I love the luxurious velvet and kitty print. It’s the perfect combo of kitch and chic. I really am not a fan of les cats in general, but I like them on clothing and fanny packs – call me cray cray, I don’t give a sheist.

How to Curl Hair with a Flat Iron: Say What?

Screen Shot 2013-05-26 at 6.28.42 PMScreen Shot 2013-05-26 at 6.27.51 PM

Hello interwebs friends!

Curling hair with a flat iron is quick, easy (with practice), and down right magical. Stay tuned and click on the video above to learn the technique for your self.

I use an infra shine iron – had it for years, and she is still kickin’. Please remember this technique requires lots of practice! I would try it a few times on a night in, and once you master it, you will wonder how you ever got along without it! Happy Flat Iron Curling!!

XOXO

Sephora Haul: Goodies + Some Skincare

Screen Shot 2013-04-22 at 11.07.23 PM

1. Lancome Bienfait Aqua Moisturizer ; 2. Nail Inc. Polish in “baker street;” 3. Stila Convertible Color in Petunia; 4. Benefit “Benetint” + Benefit (le full sized) “Girl Meets Pearl” + Bad Gal Lash (500 perk!); 5. Philosophy Amazing Grace; 6. Clinique Clarifying Lotion; 7. Clinique Liquid Facial Soap; Sephora X nail polish in “ding bat” (not pictured).

Hey LADY! So, I went to Sephora recently, and decided I would do something totes girly and make a haul video and map it all out on polyvore. Hashtag, YOPO! (you only purchase once). Most of the products I purchased were staples… so nothing too exciting, but the 500 point perk was a full sized “girl meets pearl!” Like ZOMG, party like a VIB (very important beauty insider).

Don’t judge me for the cheesiness above – I just ran 4 miles and am feeling a bit loopy.

CHEERS!
